📖 Read Chapter 1 — where it all begins
Lyrics
Revolving in slow motion
My world is not what it once seemed
And I see this the only
Way that it can be
So I spend a lonely
Night inside my mind
I find you, only
You’re nowhere to be found
Reflections in my head
As I look for truth
And now I live heartless
My heart once given to you
And I sit here lookin’
At where you used to be
Nothing there to remind me
Of all your distant memories
I try to piece it together
But nothing seems to fit
This loneliness surrounds me
And all I can do is sit
No one can replace the
Place you left behind
No reason to look on
You’re the best there was to find
And I’m too late to realize
The biggest mistake I made
Still I have to face the fact
That I let you get away
So now I sit by myelf
And wonder how it coulda been
But you only get one chance
I’ll never see that chance again
And I sit here lookin’
At where you used to be
Nothing there to remind me
Of all your distant memories
I try to piece it together
But nothing seems to fit
This loneliness surrounds me
And all I can do is sit
And I sit here while you’re gone (so gone)
Remembering the times all alone (alone)
Well everything was perfect
But I was too naive to see
And now I sit alone
In my lifeles misery
Going through the motions
I struggle just to breathe
My eyes were open
Still I could never see
I always wanted more
When all I wanted was in front of me
And now I sit alone
A product of all of my greed
And I sit here lookin’
At where you used to be
Nothing there to remind me
Of all your distant memories
I try to piece it together
But nothing seems to fit
This loneliness surrounds me
And all I can do is sit
And I sit here lookin’
At where you used to be
Nothing there to remind me
Of all your distant memories
I try to piece it together
But nothing seems to fit
This loneliness surrounds me
And all I can do is sit
Story Behind The Song
I just want to say that I am a firm believer in a song taking on meaning for each person that listens to it. And I hope that happens for you. I just want to let you know what I was thinking when I wrote it. But please don’t let that ruin what the song means for you…
The story of this is kinda crazy…but here goes.
After Matt passed away, I was pretty lost. I missed so much school I flunked out. but truth be told, I was already on academic probation because I had a little trouble with attendance. The lacrosse coach didn’t want me to move home, so he set it up for me to have a room in the lacrosse house at the community college in the town my college was in.
The plan was for me to go there, play a semester there, then come back.
I packed up my car and went to meet my new housemates. I was called into the coach at that school’s office. He called for “Nature” to be brought into his room.
Little did I know that I would be meeting my musical soul mate that day.
Nature was told that I was moving in with him. Literally into his room. He was less than stoked. He told me to follow him to the house.
I unpacked my things.
First thing was my guitar. He asked if I played. I told him I am more of a writer but I dabble.
He said he plays and has been working on something.
We went up to the room and wrote the original “Sit” in minutes.
It’s a song we played every single time we played together since then. We were (and still are) pretty proud of that song.
