Lyrics
Yea I can kick it with the homies
I can love you like you want me
I can try to make a dollar out a dime
Can listen to you bitch about me
Or hang onto that ‘same old me’
Or I can even get to gettin’ gone
Bet your ass I won’t stay down
I’ve been makin’ bad decisions
Hardly felt like livin’
Time for me to right my wrongs
I don’t know if I’m forgiven
Wait til they hear my comeback song
Ain’t no way I’m going out like that
Eyes fixed forward, never looking back
Lived with my demons and my doubts
I’m burning ’em all to the ground
Hell, this is my comeback song
Yea I’ve been lost
And I’ve been broken
Too damn tired of all the hopin’
Can’t sit around
And waste another night
I can stay stuck in what they made me
Or prove I’m the one to save me
It’s time I write my own comeback song
Ain’t no way I’m going out like that
Eyes fixed forward, never looking back
Lived with my demons and my doubts
I’m burning ’em all to the ground
Hell, this is my comeback song
I’ve been makin’ bad decisions
Hardly felt like livin’
Time for me to right my wrongs
I don’t know if I’m forgiven
Wait til they hear my comeback song
Ain’t no way I’m going out like that
Eyes fixed forward, never looking back
Lived with my demons and my doubts
I’m burning ’em all to the ground
Hell, this is my comeback song
Comeback song
Story Behind The Song
I just want to say that I am a firm believer in a song taking on meaning for each person that listens to it. And I hope that happens for you. I just want to let you know what I was thinking when I wrote it. But please don’t let that ruin what the song means for you…
So this was litereally the day after I finished “You’re My Favorite Kinda High”. I let Abbey listen to it. And again…she wasn’t that into it. She told me she wanted something with some sass. Some spizzazz.
I didn’t know what the fuck that meant.
So I sat there and thought to myself. What’s the most ridiculous thing that I could start a song with?
“I could kick it with the homies”
Perfect.
Second line…
“I can love you like you want me”
We have been having some times lately and I was just like I can keep loving you and pretend like you still want me.
Third line…
“I can try to make a dollar outta dime”
Just saying I am trying to make something out of nothing. I am trying to make it so we don’t have to struggle.
Fourth line….
“Can listen to you bitch about me”
This one is self explanatory!
Fifth line….
“Or hang onto that same old me”
I have been really working on trying to make things better. So I don’t let things fester for a few days. I talk to her. But I’m saying I could go back to the old ways and we just don’t talk for a few days until one of us gives.
Sixth line…
“Or I can even get to getting gone”
Or if that’s what you want…I can go.
Seventh line…
“Bet your ass I won’t stay down”
This is the line that is saying that I’m not going to be the same person that was ok with losing. I’m not staying down anymore. And this is the start of the comeback.
Then we hit the buildup which is like an anthem for what I feel like.
“I’ve been making bad decisions
Hardly felt like living
Time for me to right my wrongs
I don’t know if I’m forgiven
Wait til they hear my comeback song”
This whole chorus is just saying that I have not been doing what I was meant to do. I’ve been living a life that I wasn’t meant to. I literally made bad decisions in my younger days. But now, I feel like I am not pursuing my passions. And that is my bad decisions that I am going through right now. And it hardly felt like living because I wasn’t doing what I love. Time for me to right my wrongs and change the way I’m living and go after my passions. I don’t know if I’m forgiven because I feel like I have not lived up to my potential. I feel like I have let people down up until now. But wait til they hear my comeback song, meaning my comeback in life. My new direction. The new way I am choosing to live.
Then we bang in with the chorus which is announcing where we’re at now and how things are going to be
“Aināt no way Iām going out like that
Eyes fixed forward never looking back
Lived with my demons and my doubts
Now Iām burning them all to the ground
Hell this is my comeback song”
Just saying that I’m not going out like that. I’m not going to be living a life without purpose. Eyes fixed forward never looking back. I am not wasting time worrying about the past. I am focused on my goals and my future. Lived with my demons and my dounts. This is a big line. Because a lot of my demons are my own doubts about myself. The next line is saying that I’m burning them all to the ground. Hell this is my comeback song. Saying I’m sending my demons and doubts to hell. Burning them. I’m a new person.
Next verse:
“Yea I been lost, and I been broken
Too damn tired of all the hoping
I can’t sit around and waste another night
I can stay stuck in what they made me
Or prove I’m the one to save me
It’s time I write my own comeback song”
This is just another way to shout out to any fucking one who will listen that I am not going to be the same old me that wastes my talent or my ideas or anything. Just fuckig go for it. I’m the only one who can do it. It’s only me that can save me. And I can sit here and be stuck in the same shit or prove that I can save me. Time to write my comeback song.
Then we go out with the buildup and chorus again.
